Malleswaram Diabetes & Nephro Prevention Trust was started in November 2015 with the aim of spreading awareness about diabetes and its complications.
The incidence of diabetes is increasing rapidly in our country. Presently, we have 69.2 million diabetics.
Patients in our country. Also, an equal number are pre-diabetic. But only half of them have been diagnosed and only one third have control of their disease. Unless we spread the
Awareness of diabetes and its prevention leads to complications with increased morbidity and mortality.
Dr V Shankar and Dr Dinesh V Kamath, Senior Physicians and Diabetologists, are the Managing Trustee and Secretary of the Trust. Other Trustees are Dr G K Prakash, Senior Nephrologist, Dr Prabhavathy P, Dr Ravikala Kamath, Dr Sowbagya.
To hold regular medical camps both in semi-urban and rural areas to detect the disease early.
To educate people about lifestyle changes to prevent the onset of the disease.
To educate people to have a healthy diet , do regular exercise, and to reduce weight.
To advise patients to undergo regular health checks to keep the blood sugars under control.
To advise patients to consult the doctor and take treatment appropriately to prevent complications.
To help poor patients with investigations and treatment.

Conduct regular CME program to practicing physicians so that they will be updated about recent advances in diabetes and its complications.

To hold an annual HDR SUMMIT ( Hypertension, Diabetes & Renal Summit ) where Speakers both
National and International will deliver Lectures to discuss recent advances of the disease.
Encourage Post graduates and Resident doctors of various medical colleges to participate
In the workshop and quiz programs to increase their knowledge.
Encourage young doctors to do clinical research in the field of Diabetology.
